Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My!
Monday, March 30, 2009Linens and Velvets and Silks...Oh My!! Lee Jofa and Clarence House are my two "go to" fabric purveyors...but NOMI Fabrics Inc. has a place in my heart that will never be overshadowed. At the David Sutherland Showroom in Houston, I like to hide between the fabric panels and imagine the winds coming off of the Grand Canal in Venice...the fabric panels billowing around me in the slightly noxious Venetian Summer breeze. Can one be in love with textiles? Is there a word for a textile fetish?

My fantasy about the fabric panels in showrooms is that when I find one that I love, I want to take the whole piece and hang it on a wall in my office. There is something so grand about a huge sample.

I agree completely. I'm off to Houston next month to visit family and one thing I'm most excited about is going to the Dec Center to see all of the new textiles. Seeing them on the computer just isn't the same!
