Masterering Gardenening

Yesterday, my Master Gardener Class was all about Etymology and Insecticides...which I've decided are very harmful, no matter the content or benign lingo. If you have to dress up in a HazMat suit to spray your garden...that should be a big clue that it might not be the best option. You're just spraying more chemicals in the air...killing randomly...beneficial bugs and the harmful. Although, I'm sure the little bug's family's don't think they're harmful...just bringing home the bacon.

After the mind-numbing class...it's held in a concrete block room with no windows and no A/C system...I'm a sweaty exhausted mess. Have I complained about this before? I can't go outside for lunch to commune with nature, because nature is buzzing with mosquitos. 8 hours of looking at these 50 year old draperies...design truly does come full circle, doesn't it?

Suzani-esque

So...after learning about the glories of bugs in class all day, I went to Happy Hour with a friend, had a couple of Manhattans, drove home, pulled into the drive leading to my house, stopped, stared coolly and then accelerated over a giant tarantula! I told you there is no need for insecticides! Large cars will do just fine.

You are going to hate me, however I do kind of like the curtains! Are you sure that they arent Lily Pulitzer? coz if they are grab em and run!

Oh, and cold tea works wonders on aphids on your roses.

Oh, Manhattans and big cars are not good on tarantulas.

I don't mind the fabric either...kind of Palm Springy!

Yes, Palm Springy is right on the curtains.
Everything old is new again.

The curtains are very 50's and not in a good way...now the Manhattan is 50's in a good way, and the tarantuala is just cool..... did you go look at it's squashed, hairy remains? oooh.... I wish I hadn't visualized that....

You should have used Mr. Wilde (tired) quote: «Either those drapes go or I do.»

I looked at its squished body from the safety of my upstairs window this morning...just to make sure my aim had been true!

Oh I love those drapes too.
The tarantulas, however, well...that's something I couldn't deal with.

What eats mosquitos, is it lizards, like geckos? And EW, tarantula, that's crazy! I bet he ate a lot of insects in his time.
