New Perfume Trials...The Hunt

Saturday, October 30, 2010
I've been haunting the Lucky Scent website lately. I've worn the same perfume oil for 5 years.

Sage perfume in Garnet.

The candles are amazing and very fragrant as well.

So, after a faithful fan for 5 years, I need a change. I ordered 5 samples, which arrived yesterday...this is the first one I'm trying out...it's very sultry. I don't like girly, floral fragrances. Amouage Memoir Woman definitely is not.

From here...

"Amouage was founded 25 years ago by His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said on the request of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the ruler of the Sultanate of Oman, to reflect the wonderful heritage and tradition of his country for creating the finest, exotic and unusual perfumes and for giving them as gifts to honoured guests."

Top Notes: Mandarin, Cardamom, Absinth, Pink Pepper

Heart Notes: Pepper, Clove Bud, Opulent White Blossoms, Rose, Jasmine, Precious Dark Wood, Frankincense

Base Notes: Styrax, Oakmoss, Castoreum, Leather, Labdanum, Fenugreek, Musk

Did you get a sample of Rose Oudh? I'm definitely 'taking advantage' of it, as Chong says in his interview. Only I don't think that's supposed to be a good thing.

I'm not a big fan of rose. My grandmother wore Joy...and she and I are like water and oil. She's a thorn in my side...I crack myself up...anyway, kind of killed the rose aroma for me. I'm trying out the second fragrance now. It's not lasting very long. I don't like having to reapply throughout the day...probably the reason I prefer oils.

Jill, you might like Tom Ford's Black Orchid, it's so spicy it is almost like a man's cologne. I love it. I've been wearing Nikki De St. Phalle for years and am now on my last bottle. :( I have heard that Bijan is similar.

Those scents sound so intriguing. (I'd like to add most of them into a spice cake).

I know it's nothing fancy but I do love Clinique's Aromatics Elixer. It smells different on everyone which is part of it's allure.

...and could the people in that promo be any sexier? Jeez.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm trying out the second sample now.

I used to wear Magie Noire in High School...then graduated to Mitsouko in college, then Opium for Men, then Sage Garnet...my history in perfume!
