Magic Carpet Ride...
From the past and present...from around the Globe.
I wish I could say that these fabulous rugs came from a source in El Paso...but, they do not. Carol Piper Rugs in Houston. She always has a fabulous selection.

I have typically found quite a few interesting items on One King's Lane. You can become a member here.
Their designer tag sales are usually my favorite. Yesterday they featured a tag sale from Suzan Fellman. There were some interesting pieces and some not so interesting items...but most are sold out by now...I've been under the weather for the last couple of days. In bed away from my computer. I don't have a laptop, so my iPhone had to entertain me. The images are so small, I waited to view the sale until I felt better, and now most is already spoken for....like this "Moroccan Inspired Screen"...which I think is badly named...more like "4th of July/can we sing the Star Spangled Banner inspired screen". Put it outside behind the BBQ grill to provide a bit of something or other once a year and store it safely in the basement the rest of the time.

And this Curtis Jere Wall Sculpture is horrid and is sold as well...surprise, surprise
Sex and the City 2...

I want to be reclining there and wearing that!
Or this Naeem Khan she wore to the premiere...sigh

I'm looking forward to Sex and The City 2...I'm not in it for the storyline (I personally think the TV series was far better than the movies). I'm in it for the escapism, the fantasy, the shoes (THE SHOES), the clothes (I'm really loving Miranda's glam makeover), Mr. Big (when he's not being a dick), the camaraderie between friends, and the exotic locale. And...this is a little pathetic, but I already know what I'm going to wear...at least as far as the earrings.
Wendy Brandes designed these rully, rully (my Kelly Bensimon moment)
fabulous Cleopatra earrings and the gold version is worn by Samantha in the movie.
That Wendy...she knows how to design some cool jewels!
Read a great article in The New York Times.
And an interview with Wendy, by one of my favorite bloggers and vintage purveyors, Cherie at Shrimpton Couture here.
My friend Randy is probably going to have something to say about this picture. He doesn't like it when I post a pic without dolling myself up at least a little bit...here, no makeup and tangled hair. I was outside by the pool. The Main Man dropped a box in my lap (12 year old boy thought just popped into my head...) The box was from Wendy! Those are the best kinds of boxes. I ripped it open, stuck the Cleo's in my lobes immediately and insisted The Main Man take a pic right then and there so I could email Wendy.

If only I could afford the gold ones, I'd be really literal and wear the Moroccan caftan I wore to the first symphony fundraiser I chaired...although it wasn't the most flattering garb.

Cocktails?

The Langham Hotel's Artesian Bar...drinks only though...I'm not very impressed with the rest of the hotel. I do, however, think the walls could be painted a duskier color.
