Both Chefs are Great...

Friday, April 29, 2011

My favorite is the jambalaya and the crab cakes. I don't normally like oysters (because they kind of look like a vagina), but The Main Man insisted I try one of the charbroiled oysters and it was heavenly.

My favorite is the risotto with scallops...but, if the giant veal chop is being offered, that's my second love. Who doesn't like a huge piece of meat!?!

And...both Chefs are helping me with the next El Paso Zoo Fundraiser!

Flower Show...

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I've joined a Garden Club...I think it's been in existence for 60 years. There are meetings and luncheons, educational classes and more luncheons. Every year, the big shindig is the Flower Show. Since it's my first year, I didn't have to enter a specimen or a floral design, but I did have to clerk. Which may sound easy, but it wasn't. Me and two other clerks followed three expert judges around for several hours. My job was to quietly eavesdrop on their helpful comments, jot them down on sticky notes and then place the comments behind the "ballot". At times there were 6 women hovering around a single tulip dissecting it's good traits, bad traits, how it was displayed, straight stem vs. crooked stem, wind damage, etc.

I thought this Iris was beautiful, but apparently it was "spent" and didn't have good symmetry.

Initial inspiration for this post came from one of my favorite blogs...

French Sampler

I've always loved the beautiful draping of a veiled statue...mystery, fluidity, haunting.

= headache and fireworks

This is what happens when you stroke an empty tequila bottle until it gets a woody and then drop a lit match down it...I had NO idea!
